Group Experience Days

We offer a variety of group experience activities, so if you’re a local youth group, social or sports club, Scouts or Guides group, or a local school, we can provide a great experience for you.

Our educational experiences for schools can support children in their curriculum work, particularly in the area of PSHE. We can give children a fantastic experience that can teach them more about how to play an active part in their community, and how to stay safe when living in a coastal community. We look to combine these curriculum objectives with a fun and hands-on learning environment.

The three Group Experience days we offer are:

School Educational Visit

During your visit you will take a tour of the lifeboat station, hear the story of how we went from a pig sty to a purpose built boathouse, meet a crew member and hear stories from some of our life-saving callouts, as well as learning about:

• What lives in our seas
• The hazards of open water – seas, rivers, lakes and canals.
• Some basic survival techniques.
• You are also welcome to order fish and chips from our local award winning restaurant.

Fish and Ships

During your visit you will take a tour of the lifeboat station, hear the story of how we went from a pig sty to a purpose built boathouse, meet a crew member and hear stories from some of our life-saving callouts, and enjoy fish and chips from an award-winning local fish and chip restaurant.

Be a Crew Member for the Day

During this day long experience you will meet the crew in the morning over light refreshments, then you will be given a tour of the boathouse and provided with some basic safety training. We will then simulate a real ‘shout’ where we are called out as a crew – you will race to put on your gear, and help transport the boat to the shore. If able, you may then take the boat out into the sea. On returning to shore you will be hosed down and dried off, before enjoying award-winning fish and chips before your journey home.

Corporate Experience Days - 999 Experience Days

If your company is wanting an experience day with a difference then this is it. As well as improving your team dynamics, communication and communication skills, our 999 experience day will give you a first-hand insight into the vital life-saving work that we do.

The day consists of:

• An Introduction and Safety Briefing
• Training on how to use PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)
• The chance to take part in group and single survival positions.
• A tour of the Boathouse and an in-depth look at our rescue boat.
• The chance to take part in a simulated call out.
• Award-winning fish and chip dinner.
• Certificate.
